much to my amusment today, pulled up at work and about and hour later i clocked something hanging out the bottom of my front bumper.

twas my low speed rad fan. just the blade part had seperated itself from the motor part.

it has never worked and i figure the car took a bump in the front with the previous owner.

anyways.... my question is......

i plan on putting the working fast speed fan where slow speed one was and then a power resistor instead of the fast speed.

i know this is how the single rad for gtis are done. quite a bodge really as your still wasting the same elec with one fan as two :S

what i need........is either the rating of the resistor or the power rating of the fan so i can source a heatsunk power resistor

tar in advance for replies

jim

been on the ebay....as moreso nowaday i find this site useless.

i found a few peugeot fans rated at 81watts. using some maths and p=iv and v=ir

i get a figure of a 1.7ohm resistor at a power rating obviously of above 81 watts.

single fan here i come

probably, totally different wiring on that, requires the thermoswitch in the rad, much more reliable as it happens.

just thought id report back.

power resistor is installed in place of broken fan. i now have half speed at 90 and full at 110 (hasnt/cant reach 110 so i cant check) but im sure it will

engine temp is even coooler, it now sits at 80 rather that 85-87. wondering if i need to change thermostat.

ill ask on a new post
