I'm in the middle of installing a brand new cooling fan wiring harness in the Rallye (single fan setup) and there are 5 plugs on the harness. 1 = plugs into main loom and is a round plug with four pins. 2 = Blue plug that plugs into radiator switch. 3 = plug that goes into fan motor. 4 = plug that gets the black relay into it. 5 = ???...this is the one I dont know where it goes, its a black plug but got a purple three pin socket inside it. It doesn't stretch very far and is currently sitting near the top of the rad but I can't find anything obvious that it plugs into. Haynes manual is vague and I'm not even sure if it covers the Rallye but the wiring diagram that matches closest suggests it plugs into a 'resistor'??Anyone with a standard rallye setup able to help? Thanks ________________________________________ 1999 GTi-6 (china blue)1999 Rallye (black) |

bigbadbowen wrote: Looks like a small silver cylinder, clipped in the horizontal position on the side with no fan Ok, finally got around to checking this today and I definitely have no silver cylindrical shaped objects behind my empty fan or anywhere in the general fan/radiator area. So I'm guessing that it's been removed by previous owner at the same time he botched all the wiring. Does anyone happen to have a spare one of these lying around they're willing to part with?.....or even a part no. Don't know if Peugeot still stock these or not? ________________________________________ 1999 GTi-6 (china blue)1999 Rallye (black) |

russbez wrote: how did you get on with this? well....not so good. I bought a new resistor from pug which I have fitted and the fan still doesn't work. I tried bridging the fan switch which does not activate the fan so I have then checked the fan itself and it works fine. I checked for 12v at the fan switch and I have nothing therefore I am now thinking it is a bad connection at the bottom of the harness. I bought a brand new harness off ebay so that should be ok, the resistor is brand new, the fan switch is brand new so that only leaves the relay which I have no reason to suspect at this stage. And the fuse is good. It makes it all the more fun when I see brake lights on the M8 and the gantry telling me that its 'slow for 5 miles' ________________________________________ 1999 GTi-6 (china blue)1999 Rallye (black) |

update on this - took the car to an auto electrician who confirmed it was rusted connectors on where the cooling fan wiring harness joins the main loom. He sorted them out and the fan works perfectly now (apart from the slightly annoying squeal from the fan, presumably because it hasn't been run for a while).________________________________________ 1999 GTi-6 (china blue)1999 Rallye (black) |
