Ok, I want to put my SORNed car in for an mot.

Some sort of oil got spilt on the rear bench so I've bought some replacements (which I'd have to drive and pick up). However the seat belts are still fitted.

Can someone who knows give me a clue whether I'd have to remove the seat belts too to get an MOT. And would it have a restriction on the number of seats fitted written on the MOT?

You should still get an mot as the buckles and belts will still be in the car

No seats in the back is not an mot failure

I have plenty of seats if you need. You can have them if you cover postage.

if there is a seat there it needs a belt in GWO without frays and with working buckle.

if there is a belt but no seat it becomes a non testable item anyway so will be ok (but full seat as in back and base has to be removed)

A seat fitted without a belt = fail
No seat and belts fitted = fail.

Just remove both, it will get an mot said on how many seats presented though, can't see that being an issue though as the police etc will not even notice, an mot is an mot to them.

"Where a belt is fitted with no corresponding seat or if there is a buckle/stalk but no corresponding belt, it is NOT to be considered a seat belt for the purpose of this inspection."

^ law

personally i'd just take both parts out to save arseache

I just had my car tested with no rear seats but belts still fitted. It passed and mot guy said the belts cant be used with no seats so they wont get tested in an mot.

It would fail if seats fitted but no belts or a seat belt defective also with seats fitted.
