I was in the supermarket the other weekend and saw a family pull up in the space next to my car. The mum opened the door for the kid and the kid got out, leaned on the door and did this

Nice little dent and chip.

Anyway the guy said he would pay without going through the insurance companies so I got a quote from chips away which was about £100 so I told him and guess what? I've not heard anything since.

Thing is if I phone my insurance company I'll probably end up paying 150 excess so what's the point?

What do you think I should do?

Where does he live? If its not too far away, id go round and have a stern word with him and warn him that if he doesn't stick to his word, you will go through the insurance company and make them fully aware that he has tried to avoid the situation.

Why would you have to pay excess? claim on his insurance. How could he deny it now that he has given you his name and address...
