It says how much it weighs: 700 pounds which is 317kg. Acceptable cargo for ships etc. and easily stacked as boxes...quite a good idea.

Not too sure about that. That would mean each man would be lifting over 75 kg. Try doing that whilst hiking about!

If you go to the article it is designed to be parachuted down.
So, they fit easily in a plane, parachute down in a case where if the external panels take a hit, no big deal it's just a dent, and then four men can set it up in approximately one minute and have transport behind enemy lines.

Yeah true I suppose it's not like they will be on a freshly tarmaced nice flat road,
Would be a b**ch walking steep uphill on uneven rocky ground in long grass with hedges to cross and dense brush to beat your way thru and big trees and a river to wade across, all whilst getting shot at

Luke in that situation, it would work in part. But generally operating behind enemy lines requires stealth, not noisy little motorcycle engines. The people driving it in the picture are obviously officers, and only they could come up with such a funny little machine LOL

Buzz, it would be a pain indeed! For reference I weigh 71KG Smile can't imagine it would be fun!

Probably the wrong scenario.
This was designed post-WW2 if I've understood the article.

Imagine after securing a foothold on Normandy how useful it would have been to fly planes over with several jeeps in and drop them so that officers and messengers could have had transport on the continent.

Modern wars are won by logistics and intelligent application of military resources really, rather than pitched battles such as in WW1.
