So, as some of you are aware, I killed my 406 coupe!

So after a toss up of another or a '6 again, I found this little beauty 15 mile away!

12 months MOT, recent cambelt, brand new fronts tyres, service etc all totalling £600!

The exterior and interior are pretty much mint.. few marks to be expected.

Only downside to this car, was the 2 rear tyres are P6000 and 1mm of tread.

Now, after an hour and half of ownership, was in our village last night, 90 degree bend, wet, 10mph and woosh! Rear end over took me. (Now I go round this bend everyday and this is the first time this has ever happened)

Unfortunately there is a wall......

Anyway, more updates to come as and when!

Few more photos

So, I have managed to source some brand new Continental tyres for the rear.. on a don't ask basis Wink

Also, my Strut Brace has turned up and a new clutch cable as this one is a little stiff Thumbs down

Well, what are the chances of that - new tyres vs worn out illegal ditchfinders... i'd never have guessed it would have caused you to spin. Wink

Looks a nice example, clearly had some TLC.

I get the fact they are shocking tyres.. knowing this I did not push the car. Seen to many 306s in a ditch because of p6000s. But at 10mph just shocked the hell out of me!

Carl, pretty much the last thing you said to me, before you drove off, was you were going to replace the rear tyres. Doh
Give me a shout if you want that scuff sorting out.

I didn't sell it for 600!! I'd done roughly 600 worth of work on it! It was a bargain at the original price! LOL

I've literally just come back from paying for my direct acces with the money. Big grin

p.s, excessive lows will not help tail happiness, it'll just sit on the bump stops at the hint of any lean, that's if its not on them already.

Update:

Added a strut brace

Pressed plates and Bonnet bra (haters will hate!)

Bigger update:

What a morning...

So decided today was the day for clutch cable, engine mounts (top ones) and top mounts!

So, changed the mount under the gearbox, not a problem

Next come the main top mount. As I started to undo the bracket off the engine, I noticed more play than I was expecting! Now I know these sometimes break the mount.. this is what I found once I undone the bracket...

I was like Shock, which flipping monkey has been here?
They had put some carpet underneath and welded the bottom of the mount to the car.

So que dad coming home at the right point for a trip to Halfords for reverse threads etc!

So now have a lovely non rocking engine

Clutch cable, meh pig of a job, bent the a/c pipes out the way and cracked on! So now have a lovely light clutch!

Top mounts.. not enough time! Save them for another weekend.

Update:

A local member who works in a garage, was kind enough after dark to open up and fit my exhaust for me.. I purchased a standard system with the middle box removed. Makes it sound better and frees up that low down torque I think Smile
And while he was there, got the grinder out and fitted my tow strap for me!

Bought some 106 Quiksilver grab handles

Fitted my black trims

And after a wash and G3 clay mitt.. my beading Smile

Just awaiting my Cabby sunvisors to turn up.. and were good to go for FCS Big grin
