I am preparing a set of standard pistons for Kent PT82 cams. I need to know how much is recommended to increase the piston cuts. What should be the depth? And what is the maximum safe depth?

It's about 2mm I think, not much at all. PM Allenallen, he's done lots of these and will be able to tell you all you need to know.________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. 1mm.I doubt there is space to run PT82's, given they run 2.03mm @ TDC. ________________________________________ need a part number? get on here - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.comBring on the Trumpets. |

No idea how much in 'x', you'd have to use trig to work it out. We machine them 1mm deeper at the correct valve inclination. I wouldn't recommend going much deeper as the crowns are thin and they're not renowned for being the strongest pistons anyway. If the head has never been skimmed you 'should' be ok running pt82s, a dummy build is always wise though. ________________________________________ www.bridgecraftmotorsport.co.uk |

Thanks to all of you The head that is going to be used has not been skimmed, I also think to buy new original gasket from Peugeot. I also have another damaged head and block, they will be used for drilling the pistons and testing the setup before the cams and pistons go into the real engine I have one more question - When drilling the pistons through the head I think that the gasket should be in place. Is that correct? |

May be I have not expressed my self correct.I could not find near me no one to machinery pistons for reasonable price So we've decided the to use this primitive method - we will be using modified valves as drills. So we will drill after that measure and again and and again .... I admit that I have no experience with this at all, but my buddy has done this many times before, but not exactly for gti-6. |

I have heard of people doing it but I personally wouldn't. You could do it with or without the head gasket fitted, can't see that it'd make much difference. If you can source a set of pistons/rods in this country I'm happy to machine them and post them to you ________________________________________ www.bridgecraftmotorsport.co.uk |
