Got a flashing airbag warning light and, given the car was in an accident (no airbag deployment), i reckon that the pretensioners may have activated and need replaced. Can't remember it being on when I picked it up although to be fair I wasn't paying too much attention!!I see loads on ebay for much cheapness but need to know if they are all identical or do i need one from a same year car (99) TT |

Have you tried disconnecting the battery and re-connecting the connector under your seat? These often work loose and are a common cause of the airbag light illuminating. Might be worth a 5 minute check before spending money. ________________________________________ 61k miles Ph.1 Diablo '6 Project Thread |

Yes, will do that tomorrow. Im just pre-empting the purchase of a new tensioner by trying to understand if they're generic or phase specific.TT |

As said the orange connectors under the seats are s**te so chop them off and use bullet connectors to re wire the seats |

If the pre tensioners have gone off in a crash (easy to see. The black heat shrink down the steel cable on them will be wrinkled up), you will also need a new airbag ecu as they are one use. Seeing as its flashing though, id put my money on one of them not connected properly. Cut the plugs off and solder them. |

Went out this morning and had a look.....Had the seats out and checked underneath. Wires on both were joined without crimps (i.e twisted) so I remade the connection with spades for subsequent east seat removal. Airbag light is now off so whatever I've done has made a difference!! Fingers crossed that it stays that way!! TT |

Sounds about right. My airbag light has flashed a couple of times and I've cured it by unplugging and plugging the connectors back in again, still got original orange connectors. Eventually I'll have to get some better connectors. ________________________________________ Cherry Rallye SOLD |
