howdi

after speaking to a few people about building a muts nuts of a gti6 engine, i've been told that some people use the block out of a 1.8 xsi with a gti6 head due to the xsi block being alloy so that much lighter

i happen to have a 2 litre xsi engine here which i bought in error and was wondering if the 2 litre as well as the 1.8 xsi are alloy blocked

just posted a reply and deleted it by mistake,

the 2.0 xsi engine is the iron block from memory

there was a thread on the 205forum with what engines were what, showed like the 405 mi16 alloy (early 1.9) and iron (2.0)

its the same block as the 6, may or may not have oil spray bars, same crank.

the later EW 138 bhp 206 gti or 307 xsi are alloy block.

306 XSI are all 2.0's, 123 bhp 8v then 135 bhp 16v.

Early XS was iron block TU5 90 bhp, later ones were 115 bhp XU7J4 allow blocks.

Think the meridians had the 1.8 engine but be sure not to get an early one as they got 8v heads
