Hi there,

I'm currently trying to organise an EVO magazine photoshoot for next week, and we would love to feature a (reasonably) standard GTI-6 or Rallye. I can't say too much - as I don't want to reveal exactly what we are doing - but if you fancy a day in North Wales on Thursday next week with your car, drop me an email on matthewh@evo.co.uk, and I can discuss the full details of the test.

Cheers,
Matt

So, I went along for the shoot... no surprises it was on the Evo Triangle, a great section of road.

The day was not at all glamourous, spending much of it freezing in the typical rainy Welsh weather but was a great day all the same talking to like minded people about cars. Was nice to meet the Evo writers Jethro Bovingdon, David Vivian and Richard Meaden, who all had a go in the Rallye and seemed to like it.

Was nice to see the old hatches... some I havnt seen in the flesh for many years. Its shocking how massive the newer stuff has become in comparison. There was a smart little AX GT there beside the new Golf R... it looked tiny!

The Rallye was up against a nice Clio Willy in the 90's section... the Clio is owned by one of the Evo staff so Im hoping the write up will be unbiased... lol.

For anyone thats interested in the article, its due to appear in next months issue (talk about cutting it fine)

A couple of teaser pics..

Indeed it is, location of the first Super Charged 306 write off a few years ago where I got 15 missed calls while hooning around said triangle.

Just a quick update, the article has been on the Evo app a few days now, and I think it's a good read. The writer David Vivian was very positive of the Rallye's chassis, steering feel and engine.

Im sorry to say Vivian did however give the nod to the Clio Wms over the Rallye in the end... gutted!

I think the article has given the 306 some needed exposure, and will hopefully assist it being regarded as one of the greats. It was a privilege to have it featured.
