Hi all - been a long while since I've been on the forum (for those that remember me).
Still got the 6 - just ticked over 100k and all going well until about a week ago.

Large puddle + Pipercross Induction = Hydrolock with 2 bent conrods (see attached!) Cry

Was only doing about 15mph and about 1700rpm No

Wanted to get some general advice on what else I should do in terms of the rebuild with the engine out (aside from conrods, head-gasket, main & big-end bearings). It's with Carl (Chambers) for the rebuild Yes

So far I'm thinking
- Piston Ring replacement (are the Goetze ones the best ones to go for?) These ones
- Clutch Change (current one is doing OK but at 100k guessing might as well?)

Anything else?

And obviously the Pipercross Induction Kit is coming off!!!! Angry

I'd check carefully that the crankshaft is not bent. That takes some serious force to do that to an engine so I'd also be looking hard at the main bearing caps (which will want new bolts by the way) for signs of ovality/cracks.

Wave Shah!

Ouch, that looks painful and I'd fully back up Jim's advice regarding the crank. Yes

It may be worth your while (for peace of mind) getting a donor crank in good condition. As for the clutch, that's a definite along with a new cable unless it's been done recently.

Apart from that, enjoy it once she's back together again. Thumbs up

Thanks for the advice Jim and Stan (Hi again Stan!) Thumbs up

The car is with Carl Chambers - he's had a good look at the crank and says all is good, planning to replace big and main end bearings.

Have you got any views on the piston rings?
