I can't remember the last new/newish car i drove which made me say WOW! Regardless of power. They just feel ditached from the road and have no feel or character.

I've had my 6 for nearly 4 years now and it still excites me every time i drive it.

Beginning to feel the same way about my 6, after four'ish months of owning it and one epic drive so far... Plenty more to come!

my mate's bought an almost new black Seat Leon FR to replace his other TDI one, think it's the 210ish bhp edition? with the dsg flappy paddle shift etc, seems alright, he reckons it goes very well

I must agree with others on here - ive had my 6 for about 5 years now and love driving it. They are just at awesome car to drive even as standard.

Despite all the money it cost's me with the little issues it keeps having I am still very reluctant to part with it. Despite all the constant comments from colleagues and friends about how much its costing me etc etc.

Peugeot are making some decent cars though. New RCZ is meant to be very good.
I have high hopes for the 308
But as above.
6 is the one for me.
Until i buy an m3 anyway

I could be swayed for an a45 as well...

Have you seen the price of it though? It's just not cheap enough Sad

If Pug were to bring a car out with minimal extras but just geared towards a great drive, give it an NA engine pumping out around 220bhp and price it around 22k max i would probably buy it within a heartbeat Yes

Maybe a tweaked rallye style ford fiesta ST might do it... shame i dont like the look Doh

My Leon is quicker than a standard 6 any day of the week in a dead straight line however other than a big lump of torque it's boring to drive and handles like s**t, not much feel through the steering and this is with all new suspension all round. However it returns 50mpg while still going like stink.

But when the weathers better the 6 feels like driving a go-cart in comparison. Not many modern cars give as much feel or excite you in the same way.

In mine or the new one? Yeh PD150 in mine remapped to 190bhp 410nm torque Smile. Their common for camshaft lobes wearing and turbos but checked the cam and it's like new. Turbo might die soon though lol but we'll see.

208 r has been confirmed and i reckon it will be about that much...

The engine in the new RCZ has Mahle pistons though.
And its the first car Peugeot Sport has got involved with for some crazy amount of time.
Thats what i'm talking about

They won't make an NA car with that much power nowadays as it won't meet strict emissions standards. That's why everyone now uses smaller turbocharged engines.

I also heard yesterday too Nissan are bring out a 1.5 engine but will change to a 4.3l when not in urban driving ,2 pistons will shut off for economical driving all destined for the new nissan skyline dont know how much of that is true but seems interesting .

I like the new RCZ-R they have released. 270hp (same engine as the 208R i suppose). Supposed to be very rapid and handle very well and still returns 45mpg and all from a 1.6.

Last sporty new car i drove was a 13 plate BMW 320D M sport which i had for a week as a hire car when my kia was broken (again). Was a big punch of torque in one hit then nothing. just dead. It handled fairly well but only as well as my Kia and that big 8 speed box in it was shocking and that really did ruin it! It seems that sporty cars are a dying breed these days as manufacturers seem to be making them idiot proof for people to just turn the wheel and it goes around the corner.

Id be surprised if it's the same engine, will put the price of the 208R up massively i think with all the forged internals and whatnot. Guess anythings possible though Ninja

Yes same engine just strengthened. Who'd have thought that much power was possible from a 1600cc road car engine years ago!!

It's all the same engine as BMW use in the cooper S nowadays.... Was a joint venture between BMW and PSA. They've been nothing but trouble though really, I've had plenty of water pumps s**t them selves for no reason taking quite a lot I bits and tensioners with it, rattly timing chains after just a few thousand miles, problems with VVT units and cams etc etc there's loads of horror stories on the net. Now they want to push more power out of it lol

Dunno, sounds pretty upgraded to me....

FRom Peugeot site

This new ‘EP6CDTR’ engine benefits from extensive development, numerous parts have been modified or entirely redeveloped to obtain this performance and be capable of sporty use with the durability of a production engine.

The engine block itself is reinforced by means of a special heat treatment before machining to improve its durability.

The Twin Scroll turbo has been developed specifically to benefit from dimensions which are ideal for this application and this level of performance. Combined with a steel exhaust manifold of innovative structure inspired by racing, it permits the operating temperatures to be kept higher.

The new pistons, providing a compression ratio of 9.2, developed with MAHLE Motorsport, are of a forged structure and use a grade of aluminium used in Formula 1, and cooled by 2 jets.

The conn rods have also been modified to withstand use at high engine speeds. Their big end shells with polymer coating can withstand the highest cylinder pressures. Patented and presented in 2011 by MAHLE, they are applied in production as a world first on the RCZ R.
