Hi All,
still sorting out the new (to me) 306 Rallye. Its come with the standard air filter, but the "snorkel" bit and the box thingy not fitted.
What does the box thingy do? It doesn't have a drain, and anyway water would go straight down into the filter housing - Peugeot clearly aren't daft so they must have had a reason to fit it.
I thought of using a K&N but it would have to go behind the rad in warm air so am thinking of just using a screen filter in the standard housing - Ideas?
Thanks, Mikedsp

What do you mean by "box thingy"? Not the metal housing?

No - there's a triangular(ish) closed box which clearly fits down beside the main filter housing and appears to have one connection which goes onto the down pipe of the main air inlet. It doesn't have a drain or any other connection. Like some sort of accumulator box - maybe it made it quieter?

I believe you mean the resonator, the triangular box. I think that´s just a kind of silencer for the intake sound. It doesnt affect at all, of course if the hole is sealed.

thats exactly it. I'll just leave it off - was just concerned that it had some function I had overlooked.
Many thanks, Mikedsp
