Most of the time the cable snaps at the release handle. If you remove the handle and get the end of the cable, you can cut off the cable jacket and use needle nose pliers or vise grips to grab the cable and pull to release bonnet.

If it happens again, front bumper off then you can put your hand up under the grill and pop it open. Just don't do what i did yesterday when doing this and leave the car locked whilst lying on the ground, jump up and head butt the headlight when the alarm siren goes off right in your ear LOL

bottom arch liners off, 2x 10mm nuts either side up below the head lights and if they are still attached, 3x 10mm bolts along the bottom of the bumper. Done.

I've had 3 306s and my current, oldest one is the only one that's worked...
it's stopped now but I did dick about with the horns etc. a while ago so I might have unplugged it by accident.

Will get video to prove if this is the case.

I'd never heard one until it suddenly went off.

I've not fully replaced one but I've threaded one through a new slam panel which is a bit fiddly but not too bad. I don't imagine there's much else to it apart from threading it through the bulkhead?

You can release it by laying under the front of the car and putting your arm up and release the catch that way. Yes

Bit late now though seeing as you've destroyed the front end. Doh
