Finally cleared out the garage and got the car back in it. I have installed the new ICV and there is no change. I carried out the ECU reset, but as the car has most electrics that are not needed stripped not sure if the process is right. Could this be an ECU problem?

Possibly - If I block the ICV valve the engine stalls - so assume it isnt that - advice welcomed!

Thanks for all you help and ideas on this. I have finally got the engine running as it should. Cant be sure what it was that fixed it but after plugging, checking and plugging in most of the day I now have a car that idles - and the rev gauge works as well again! Thanks for all your knowledge and help.
