Hi just replaced the clutch cable on my phase 3 and I have a bit of play about an inch before the cutch starts to disengage wich is making the biting point very low with it just managing to clear for gears is there anyway to help the auto adjuster take up the play at the top of the pedal ?

Could the gromit not be seated correctly ? To be honest the biting point is the same as with the f#cked cable tho I would have thought the adjuster would have taken up the play at the top of the pedal

The adjuster is automatic. Yes

I suspect the cable is not fitted correctly, more than likely the grommet is not seated right.

Have a look at the routing of the cable too and make sure it's fitted correctly. Once you're sure of that, then stamp hard a few times on the pedal, the adjuster may need to adjust and this is a way of helping it into position.
