we didn't mess about with the harness bar either.
welded top and bottom on a lug right through the tube.

Exactly this. I got all the bits for stillys car out of off cuts we had kicking about at work. The only thing we bought was mig wire and gas. Cheap as chips. just took time. Smile

Tuning. It had a 3mm wall thickness. The lugs for the eyelets were machined from mild steel bar.
