i did my 205 gti one recently with a walbro one, probably the same, and it's got a load of circle rubber inserts / mounts which you mount the bottom of the pump onto (part of the old 205 gti pump assembly), then the pickup goes at the end obviously. should be fairly straight forward Unsure

Don't do it. In the bottom of the pot is a non return valve which you almost certainly have to remove to get the pump to fit. The non return valve stops the fuel leaving the pot under cornering so you don't get fuel starvation, if you remove it the pot empties in seconds and you'll get fuel starvation. I did eventually get one to work but I had to drill the side of the bottom of the fuel pump, and used a bit of copper pipe sleeve, a hose clip and a bit of alloy pipe to make a pipe inside the pot from the new pump, and I only did that because I had qualifying the next day, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered... Save yourself some heart ache and wasted money, run the standard fuel lines into a swirl pot and a higher pressure external pump from there.

I went through all the hassel too.. Even had machined fittings and spacers. But still got fuel surge on hard accel and cornering.

this is what i got:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160822661118

"Walbro GSS340 255 LPH - High Pressure IN TANK Fuel Pump With Filter Element"

this is on a 205 gti mind you, but i did not notice any differences whatsoever and nothing from the pump was removed that would aid surge. everything aside from the pump remained the same

is yours just not an inline one rather than a proper pickup one?

hmm not sure, the pumps look entirely different anyway, maybe the 205 gti one is an easier configuration for the walbro pump (or the one i've got)
