Does anyone know if the gti6 is likely to lose its ecu code if the battery is removed for a few weeks? I have sorned one but within about 3 weeks of being parked the battery gets drained, so the plan is to run engine now and again then remove battery for a few weeks..

No, it'll be fine Dave. Yes

I had no engine in my car for nearly a year, and when I refitted it all the ECU worked fine. Thumbs up

are we talking about the keypad code? eg phase1? if you're worried just unlock (de-immobilise) it and unplug the keypad

This can be a mysterious problem on the 'open' ecu's often used in engine conversions. Left unused they can occasionally (no bloody idea how) lock themselves again. Standard cars with keypad or transponder shouldn't be a problem at all though.
