Im fitting the engine from my gti6 into my xsi . What do I need to do with the imboliser is it just a case of unlocking by unplugging it while it's running , or do I need to swap the keys and ignition barrel over from the gti6 . Plus is there anything else i need from the car . I'm sure this has been covered before i just can't find a solid answer Thanks for help ________________________________________ Old pugs don't die they just get faster |

Do you know where is the Airbag ECU? The transponder is above it but you need to remove a panel before... you´ll also need gti6 shafts |

oh, and don´t try to start up the engine without removing the transponder as you´ll lock the ECU again. |

No not sure where that is , so if i swap the transponder , ecu and the chip out of the key , all should be good ? Yeah ive got the shafts swapping the mechanics over seems straight forward it's the ecu thing I'm worried about ________________________________________ Old pugs don't die they just get faster |

1- Remove the gearstick and handbrake panel2 - In front of the gear lever you´ll see a electronic unit with some orange cables.. 3- Above it, you have a small compartment that have the transponder. 4- Remove the transponder. 5- Install the unlocked ECU and its done |

Why are the gti6 shafts required? I'm doing a similar conversion but sticking with the 5 speed box. Presumably this means I don't need the gti6 drive shafts? |

That's the airbag ecu not ABS, Abs is under the bonnet behind nearside headlight. But yes you need the little transponder chip from inside the key to the gti-6, the pickup ring from around the ignition barrel, the engine ecu and the immobiliser ecu from in front of the gear stick above airbag ecu. ________________________________________ Black power baby! Yeah I think the shafts are needed to use the 6 speed gear box ________________________________________ Old pugs don't die they just get faster |

si_batt as you can see, the shaft in right side is the xsi´s one and if you use it, the shaft won´t "connect" with the gearbox bearing to avoid oil leak. the left side shows the gti6´s one that is shorter and will fit straight in |

Nope they were the unknown cams of rich6 i think the ecu just has a higher rev limit , I'm going with the ecu from the gti6 , I'll try the ph1 if it works all good if not ill eBay it ________________________________________ Old pugs don't die they just get faster |
