In the process of resurrecting a rallye, but unsure on a few things,
I was told the engine in it is running cams and remapped ECU but this engines bottom end is away.
So I bought a spare standard engine and was planning to put it in, but don't think the ECU will run it,
So I got a soft unlocked ECU,

And the questions:-

- is as simple as put the engine in and plug ECU in and it works?

- will the chip in the key work with the chip in the ECU ?

- will this mean the immobiliser won't work ?

- is it possible to reset a mapped ECU to save any hassle ?

That's about all the questions I have at the min, any help greatly appreciated

have you got the chip to go with the ecu? assuming not and it's just a soft unlocked ecu on its own, you can plug ECU in and it'll probably work first time but as soon as you turn it off it'll relock and then your old chip won't unlock it. i think you'll need to remove (unplug) the transponder / all immobiliser gubbins from your car before even plugging that ECU in. the soft unlocked ECU's do relock, i will tell you that now, seen a couple do it in 205's first hand and absolutely no idea why/how. rich_w might know the reason. safest bet is a hard unlocked ECU but then you've got your map issue..

If you use the unlocked ECU you must disconnect the immobilizer as if you didn´t do it it will lock again Thumbs up

I can re-programme the mapped ECU with standard software so you can use this and maintain the immobiliser etc. I can download the re-mapped file to a seperate chip, in case you want to re-instate the altered map at a later date.
