ive been here a while now not posted much
but I think its about time i shared my weekender toy

it has been through this forum before a while ago
i bought it about 10 months ago saving it from a sad life
in that time i have spent money and a lot of time gettiing it back to a respectable car

list of things i have done include
rear beam
rear mounts
rear brakes
cleaned painted rear archs
fitted font and rear arch liners
new clutch
cambelt kit and w/pump
cleared painted front archs
new rad
painted cleaned front crossmember
Pas relocation
removed aircon pump/condenser
replace front wishbones complete
new front brake hoses
refurb front brakes
weld repair top engine mount
converted IR central locking to RF for better range
the list goes on

Off to germany and the Nurburgring in 16 days so thought id best put another picture up

as im sat at home dodging the showers i thought id share with you all what has happened with my car since buying it
i think its basicly a list of what everyone has done just to keep these little gems on the road

bought the car in april 2013 with a weeks MOT left i picked the car up knowing of quite a few faults
but i liked the colour and it was local to me

to get it through the first MOT was quite an ordeal, as i got rolled by the MOT tester, having a late friday MOT once he had a list of fails he didn't complete the MOT negleting to test the front half of the car!
this was going to be my list of todos but ended up being a lot more
so here goes

for first MOT.
Front brake line flexys
front ball joint X2
steering rack gator
Handbrake cable
O/s Front wheel bearing
New Re-con rear beam
front Wishbones X2

I also done

Cam belt +water pump + idlers
New clutch
new s/h Radiator + bottom hose




so once it was home it was time to enjoy it a little my first outing was Pugfest 2013 the car was loud due to the DeCat and single box system made my ears ring on the trip up the M5

car started to get a whine to it so ended up fitting
a New aux idler pulley that sorted this.
i bought some gear linkages at pugfest so on retuning i serviced fixed and fitted a few bits i had around

Comp gear linkages
Oil+ Filter change
fitted strut brace from HDI
changed the rear lights to std
fixed the Tailgate central locking
fixed the N/s central locking
re fixed door trims re-glued fabric trims


removed cleaned painted inlet manifold plugged resonator


reverted back to STD air filter
A/C fan switch mod




repair battery terminals
replaced rear beam mounts (rubber type)

after the summer show season was over i decided to sorn the car so i could do a little preventative maintenance which took till after Christmas when i bought tax again on 1st Jan







renew replace broken arch liners
clean off paint under arches x4
clean off paint front lower cross member
clean off paint front upper cross member
removed black masked fronts returned to std

Oh! and the car thinks this place is home!

yes Barry like I think most people who own and keep these cars have the same problems to overcome

time to treat some rust in the bay nothing serious then refit a rebuilt engine
