How much can i get away with with the pullies not lining up exactly? I know they have to be pretty much perfect and I've got the belt on mine today to find the charger is sitting about 1-2mm further out than the other pullies. How much of a problem is that going to cause me? If it really does need to be 100%, i can just pull the pulley off the shaft slightly to line it up and whilst i can't see that being an issue, id rather just leave it all be.

Cheers

2mm will take a rib off the belt. Years ago I changed my hdi sump and forgot the washers on the Aircon pump, it was only 2mm but would fetch a rib off the belt within hours. I fixed it the next day but already needed a replacement belt lol.

Yep just echoing what's been said but it needs to be bob on or you'll just throw the belt off.

Chargers take a lot of power to turn when under load making boost so has to be spot on. Looks like good progress though Niall Thumbs up

This will be interesting to see a finished result, seeing as you've gone down a different route to Lynx.

Good luck with it. Thumbs up

LOL you don't get out much then stan?!

Other than mine there were 3 (almost 4, that irish guy if you remember?)on the forum but they've disappeared like everyone else since membership fees came in Sad
There's 2 gti6 205s with eatons over on drivers and another in the pipeline that I know of.

Ah right, I see.

I didn't spend much time on the forum during 2009/2010 before membership fees came in as I spent all my time working/driving the car as opposed to being on here, lol.

Also, I'm not a member on drivers, so I didn't know that. Fair play to those who have done it though. Smile

Yeah definitely! Id much rather do it properly first time round (well as properly as you can out of a 8x7 shed!). Just wasn't sure on the tolerances you could get away with Smile

Got it as close as possible using a straight edge although its difficult when the pullies are so small to line it up against. Will run it and see if i have any issues then adjust from there on.

I'm doing an eaton m45 on mine, used to run a lynx before I owned it, so far I've only removed the manifold for cutting, and engine mount to be cut and re welded to form a bracket for the charger. I'll try and get some pics on if anyone's interested?

Would be good to see pics and see how your going about it. Ive got pics of how I've done it in my project thread.
Hawkesfire, i like the idea of the laser line. I've got one in the shed so will double check it all with that at the weekend!
