Can't find any previous posts on this subject - Rallye fan is running constantly and the only way to stop it is to disconnect the battery. Today I removed the fuse (to avoid having to disconnect the battery) but it's not a long term solution I want to live with. Any ideas what could be causing this? Prior to the fan running all the time, there was a strange buzzing/squealing noise from the fan/relay/radiator area but the fan wasn't on. After unplugging and replugging in some of the connectors associated with the above, the noise has gone but the fan runs all the time!________________________________________ 1999 GTi-6 (china blue)1999 Rallye (black) |

It could possibly be the temp switch in the rad has gone bad, when the fan is constantly running and the ignition is off, have you tried disconnecting this sensor?________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

Not yet, but I will try that. Is the temp switch you mention the same as the 'Radiator Fan Switch' that ECP lists?.....there seems to be two for the Rallye, both made by FAE yet one's 9.24 and the other's 24.31?? ________________________________________ 1999 GTi-6 (china blue)1999 Rallye (black) |

It will no doubt be called that I'm sure, although why there is two listed at different prices I'm not sure. The switch I'm talking about is a large blue one which screws into the top of the rad the opposite end to the header tank. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

Pretty sure that will be your problem. Stilly's rallye did the same thing for a while so did an old ZX I had in at work a while ago. A poor contact to that switch can also keep the fan running so when you change it clean the terminals up ________________________________________ Black power baby! Right, finally got around to this today. Disconnected the rad temp switch multiplug, stuck the fuse back in and the fan instantly came on....so I guess there's nothing wrong with the temp sensor in the rad? Also found out the difference in the two switches available from Euros.....cheaper one is a two pin and expensive one is a three pin (mine is a three pin). Any other ideas? ________________________________________ 1999 GTi-6 (china blue)1999 Rallye (black) |

I've had a mk1 406 constantly running the fans before and one if the relays in the little box on the front if the rad cowling had stuck / melted itself permanently on. New relay sorted it. But that's a different system to the rallye. (Same bitron etc as 306 gti) ________________________________________ Black power baby! There's some dodgy looking wiring near the radiator, installed by a previous owner and I'm wondering if that might be affecting it.________________________________________ 1999 GTi-6 (china blue)1999 Rallye (black) |
