Hi guys.

Just after an opinion really. I normally use Total Quartz 9000 5w40 fully syn in my 6 and for the last 3 years I've been getting it for free Smile however my supply has temporarily dried up so to speak. So I've been looking on ECP's website as they have a sale on and they have Shell helix for about £30 which I'd imagine is pretty good oil??

Also they sell Petronas oil which iirc is about £10 cheaper ( 4ltr ) has anyone had any experience with petronas oil? I know they're a massive Malaysian company and they sponser Mercedes F1. Is it any good? I would never put s**te oil in my engine but it seems so cheap and this makes me unsure??!!

Any advice/opinions welcome Thumbs up

I've used the Helix 5W-40 before. The engine didn't seize. I rate this product.

i use 5w40 semi in my HDI when i have to top it up due to an oil leak from the crank seal which has been leaking for 13 months, and it's quicker than a gti6. i also rate this grade of oil

You'd need 5L though wouldn't you matt? If I was you I'd just tty it, I'm sure it's fine. Best way to find out it it is any good is just listen to your engine, as silly as it sounds! Would let you know if it doesn't like it I guess!

I used triple qx, ecp cheap stuff for 100k and mine loved it. She purred like a kitten after a change LOL

Yes I would need 5 but I get very good discount through a friend at ECP so it will cost me about £24 for 6litres ( I like to have a spare bit )

I've never been one for cheap oil and i to keep mine north of 6k every day LOL she also regularly see's 140+ on that private run way i have Whistle

So even though i maintain the engine very well i like to use it as intended so a good oil with high thermal resistance is what i would ideally want.

Why not continue using Total Quartz 9000 given that it is cheap?
