Found a nice present today on my gti6 thanks too the previous owner
They had knackerd the threads in the sump plug and stuck the plug bk in with gasket sealant
I don't know how it stayed in
Luckily I have a spare sump but it doesn't look a straight forward swap over. has any1 removed 1 from the car whilst the engine is still in the car

Remove aux belt, aux tensioner and ac pump. Might need to move the pas pipe out the way too.
Then the sump should unbolt.
Refit the new one with gasket sealant.

finally refitted the sump not a 2 min job would have been easyer if i had removed the air con compressor totally
