When i put 2nd gear fast and at high revs, it scratches, if i wait to revs come down a bit it gets in smoothly. I suppose thats the synchronizer "brake" right? So, im planning on changing it, and if its not that expensive, change all of them. But, are they sold sepparately? Or I have to change the whole Synchro? And where can i get them? Thanks! |

Yes, you're correct, the synchro will be at fault. Most transmission specialists would be able to do it/source the part I would have thought. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

I have just changed the gearbox oil, and miraculously, the scratching on 2nd gear is gone!!!When I drained the gearbox, the oil that came out looked like grey mud!! And the smell was unbearable!!! Now the gearbox runs really smooth!! It´s a completely different car now |

I was going to suggest you try this first. Very occasionally, this does work.In the majority of cases though, it's synchro replacement time. Glad it's sorted. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

I've also had cases where sloppy warn linkages don't push the selector levers at a decent enough angle so they grind at high revs. First thing to try is box oil though but chances are the synchro on second is getting tired.________________________________________ Black power baby! Yes, probably this wont last long, but the problem is "temporarily fixed". I bought the steel gear linkage kit and the short shift from pug1off also. I hope this also help, cause the stick has a little free play |
