Has anyone or does anyone know of a good auto electrician that can loom my entire car fromscratch?
Iv got rid of most the unwanted wires but no matter what I do it still looks messy?
Iv tried spiral rap, electrical tape, convuluted tubing but it still looks messy!

If I was to fit everything and they came and made me new looms, fuse and relay box etc and then heat shrinked the lot with new connectors i think I would be happy Thumbs up

That would be a hell of a lot of money! Your looking at over £200 for a fairly basic engine loom and thats with generic plugs that you can pick up most places. Don't forget most of the interior plugs are pug only so will be quite a cost there alone to get all of them let alone all the other materials.

I know it's not going to be cheap but it should be worth it, surely I can change all the plugs of I'm having all the looms done, im not bothered if they are different, evennthe main bulk head one can be changed, just a lot of unnecessary looms and routing that I would like removed and tidied up, surely a kit car has similar to what I'm after?

I can't imagine anyone wanting to do this in situ. I'm pretty sure you'd have to take the car to their workshop and leave it with them.

I reckon you'll be looking well into 4 figures for this.

Iv got rich306 coming round to have a look and see what he thinks, I could get aircraft rotary connectors for it all which would be smart but not sure if people would have the crimping tools needed, if I could de-pin all the original connectors and heat shrink it I would but from past experience they don't positively lock back into the plugs after :-(

Depends what is left in the car really, the std loom can be made to look fairly neat having done a couple this way

You would want the dash out thou as you can hide allot behind there, The instruments if std would be a pain, it's bad enough finding crimps for 205's with half the connections on them, Service box is pretty U/S for that

Its relatively straight forward to do yourself. Just do wiring diagrams for each section before hand, and make sure you include everything you want or may need in the future in the loom as adding in afterwards is a pain, and makes it look untidy again. You'd be surprised how few wires you actually need. If you use rcd's instead of fuses you can do away with all the relays etc and just wire the rcds straight to the component. Or you could use a membrane panel but there £££'s!

I have a DMC AFM8 and some turrets which I use for Deutsch AS connectors, but you can use with others. I'd be willing to lend it to you on receipt of a sensible deposit!

Iv stripped a lot of the looms to the bare minimum already, I just don't like the fact the main interior loom goes all the way round the inside of the car just to get from one door to the other, if I did away with central locking etc I would just have the 6 or 7 wires I have for rear lights, hand brake and fuel pump!

Lol, you mean the AFM8?! Its a crimp tool for aerospace electrical connectors, Deutsch AS connectors were made for the eurofighter but are often used in top end motorsport systems, but might be overkill for what you're wanting! If you're interested let me know, I have a box of connectors, pins, sockets and stuff but its not cheap stuff...

http://www.m-cal.com/ they sell a lot of stuff...

Ah I see, I could borrow them from work if I go down that route, I already have the little white and red plastic tool to insert remove the pins from the connectors but that's about it...
As my work have the contract for changing all the Chinooks from analogue to digital cockpits they are binning hundreds of connectors that I could probably get hold of but its probably not worth me taking them as I could loose my job over it Sad I kind of wish I was a fairy at work and not a mec but after seeing all the spaghetti looms they have to play with I think it would drive me crazy lol

Thanks for the offer tho bud

Ah, didn't realise you could get hold of them that easily! I like wiring, dunno why but I find it quite calming, although I've never had to rewire a Chinook!
