Hopefully I'm missing something simple...

I had to change the front drivers side coil spring for this years MOT. I got the proper Sachs spring from eurocarparts and fitted no problem.

When I let it all down though, I noticed the other side (passenger) was sitting a little higher, but thought it was just settling at different rates and ignored it.

I have now changed the passenger spring for another Sachs spring and it has just made the problem worse, to the extent that it looks ridiculous! The springs are seated properly as far as I can tell. I would have said that the passenger side spring was the wrong one, except for the fact that I noticed the issue before I even changed it.

What else could be causing this? The only thing I have yet to double check is that the shock assembly is seated in the hub properly.

Cheers

The drivers side is 645mm from floor to the top of the wheel arch. The passenger side is 680mm.

I have had a look, and I think in my genius I have not seated the shock in the hub very well. Whether that will lose the best part of 35mm is doubtful though.

The new springs I have not checked side by side, and I really don't want to have to take them both off again, but I didn't think they looked wildly different. They are both seated in the spring pans correctly.

Just jacked it up again and compared sides. The shock is not sitting in the hub right such that the locating tab on the back of it is butting on the hub top instead of in its recess.

So there we have it. Apparently stupidity and suspension don't mix terribly well...!
