Iv got a few questions that need answering....

Iv got 3 racks in front of me: A VTS rack, a Gti6 rack and an S16 rack, now my question is how come they all have different lengths steering rack rods/bars

The VTS rack has 277mm rods/bars

The Gti6 rack has 292mm rods/bars

And the S16 rack that came on the dimma has 260mm rods/bars before the added 75mm dimma extensions

Now my question is.... If I fit the vts rack to the dimma with the dimma extensions will it not make the wheels have mega toe in as they are 17mm longer than the s16 length bars?

My second question is how do you remove these bars/rods from the ram section as there is no flats before or after the larger silver portion

Any help or advise will be greatly appreciated Thumbs up

I used standard 306 ones with my vts rack.

To remove, stilsons would be the best bet IMO. Worked fine for me.

I wind the rack fully one way then wrap rags around the toothed part (that has now come out of the casing) and lightly grip that in a vice. Then undo on the ball joint as above Smile

Iv done the non ram end but how do you do the ram end with out gripping it through the boot and destroying the boot?

I know iv got to grip the part where my finger is and was easy enough on the non ram side as I could remove the protective boot but how do you remove the boot on the ram side?

The larger end of the boot appears to be bonded onto the ram eye end bolt lug housing or what ever you want to call it Dunno

Thanks for the help so far Thumbs up

It is just a push fit. I use a very thin drift between the collar the ram bolts to and the boot. Bit by bit all the way round. Fitting is just tapping it back into place with suitable blunt drift.

Well it's stripped down into every little component, now just got to clean paint and rebuild before fitting it to the Dimma

Are you replacing any components when you rebuild it?

Wouldn't mind a guide of what's involved once you've finished Smile
