Hi all,
Was wondering what quickshift kit to put on my gti6. Was looking at a OBP one on kamracing.co.uk but the description says it's for 5 speed gearboxes. Here lies the problem, the same one is on demon tweeks and I mailed them to see if it would suit my car, they said it suited both 5 and 6 speed gearboxes.
Has anyone put one of these in there car or recommend a good quick shift kit.
Cheers

Just get a GE one. I think they are only like £25 or something.

Not sure. I personally think they cause more issues for very little gain.
For eg: at pugfest, my little six was more than happy to drop into 1st at 25mph whereas my mates one who had a quickshift wouldnt. And yet it wasnt a problem before it was fitted.
Also they can slip altering throw length or ive heard they can slip and you can lose all gears. Seems a pointless thing to do to me. But, lots of people really like them. Horses for coarses and all that. Smile

He lives in Ireland Smile

Compbrake are good but needs modifying as the grub screws that hold it together are pathetic.

I just used a GE quickshift on mine however the pinch bolt is far to small which is what causes them to slip. Their only made of ally so I drilled the bolt holes out and fitted a larger bolt. Has never slipped once.

The first time round I had it on the car I fitted it much to low (attempting as shorter throw as possible) which made the gear change very clunky and nasty. I then did away with it for a year or so but decided to put it back on when I fitted uprated linkages as well.
Fitted about half way down the shaft. I also chopped 2" off the gear leer in the car now have a nice short throw which still goes in gear nicely.

(Though one of the pug racing linkages did work loose last night and loose me all but 3rd and 4th till I tightened it up lol)

I find that the Q/S are too quick for the box and can make them Bulk, The normal shift allows the box time to sync before changing gears, sounds odd but it seems the case, Linkage's now have all been upgraded to left and right hand threads
