My V6 is now in place, starts and runs, but idle is rough with very regular stalls and a bad delay in pickup (no load).
I'm guessing its the TPS or ICV but wondered if I can swap and test sensors between engines.
Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know if the Throttle position sensor, Idle Control valve and Manifold Air Pressure sensors are interchangeable between a Phase 1 Gti6 and a Phase 1 (406) V6 engine ?My V6 is now in place, starts and runs, but idle is rough with very regular stalls and a bad delay in pickup (no load). I'm guessing its the TPS or ICV but wondered if I can swap and test sensors between engines. Thanks in advance. Paul |

The throttle bodies are pretty much identical, some will say the same but they are different part numbers.I'd say if the tps will fit physically then try it, it sounds like that may well be your issue if there is a delay in throttle response. The icv from what I remember is totally different though. ________________________________________ Ryan |

If you have both there, just look at them, it will be quite obvious that the ICV is not the same...TPS however is the same part number. Map may not be the same part number but is compatible, I would try that first, it will have the same variance in the connector used as the gti6, however mechanically and electrically they are the same. ________________________________________ 205 GTIXsara HDI |

Update: Having changed TPS and Map sensor (no change) it turns out that the ICV is the issue. Removed it and cleaned it before testing it off the car.... All OK. When its put back onto the engine the fast idle still happens (2000+ rpm)! Checked power coming to the ICV and its as below: Green/Yellow 0v White 11v Green 12.5v The connector is off white 3 pin (similar to TPS connector). See attached picture for more details Could it be that its got the wrong connector plugged in? Could it be the connector is correct but wired up wrong? What colour should the connector/wires be ? Any useful help will be greatly appreciated (+1). Thanks, Paul BigTallPaul has attached the following image: |

Never fast idled with me so doubt it's the wiring I had trouble with the icv though it would stall when I plugged it in so I just never plugged it in. Any other pics of how your getting on?________________________________________ Team V6 |

I believe that the wiring is incorrect. According to Bosch the center wire should be the Ignition live (+12.5v / White in this example) and it isn't.Looks like the Green wire and White wire need swapping. Shimmy, Who modified the loom ? Paul |
