Hi, hoping someone can help.

My car starts fine, and idles correctly. However if you blip the throttle, as the revs drop they dip below normal idle and comes close to stalling (or occasionally does stall). Drive the car a bit, and the problem goes away.

Is this sounding like a dirty steppa motor or somesuch? Or am I completely wrong?

Any pointers gratefully received.

You'll need to throw money at the car. Not on parts. Just stand near your car and throw loose change at it, I find this increases performance for a short period of time

I haven't checked anything yet. That was my first thought from looking round these forums.

I'll check it out and report back. Cheers for the response.

Other one to try is the pas sensor.
They having a habit of f**king up and feeding the engine a load of bulls**t so it cant compensate for the pas pump properly

I've just checked the coils on the ICV stepper, and the resistance is a solid 50ohms. About two lower than recommended, but probably not an issue I think (prepared to be told otherwise)?

Should the shaft of the stepper motor move in and out freely when disconnected? As mine is solid, but unsure whether this is normal.

Also, re the PAS, is there any way of checking if this is the problem?

Thanks

i had a similar problem....stalls on stopping etc.... plus a few others you havnt mentioned

you can bodge cure this by resetting the ecu under electrical load.
disconnect the battery for 10 mins, reattach with your battery with keys on the second click in ignition. start engine and turn on lights, fans, radio, rear heated screen. then let idle till rad fan comes on and your done.

this worked for me....however i found out my fuel pump was dieing with low pressure and this has cured the problem completely without the need for the above mentioned ecu reset under load.

cleaning out your ICV is worth a shot, note it forms a lip on the sealing edge over time, hampering air flow, few seconds with some grit paper and its gone.

hope that helps

Cheers for that.

I have a feeling my ICV is quite new, as it looks remarkably clean, and the o-ring on it looks brand new. Probably not the issue I'm thinking...

I'll give the reset a go, and see what happens. Happily the car is off the raod at the moment anyway, so I have a little time to play with it.

Quick update - the ECU reset has worked so happy days. If the problem comes back, I'll look at the fuel pump.

Cheers for the help

Might have been the ECU needing the reset after the new ICV? Oh well, if it works, it works!
