I was just wondering if there is a way to get a fallen bolt out of the flywheel housing? i haven't really looked at it yet, but surely a long thin magnet stick can get it out?

I dont really want to take the gearbox off Thumbs down

Thanks

If you're lucky you'll be able to, depends how far it's dropped down. Yes

Is there a way you can get into the clutch housing bit from underneath, like a cover plate or something? I'm sure there is something in there, which snapped my crank sensor

Right after further investigation it seems like a bolt has dropped in there and got caughtup on the flywheel and hit my crank sensor, the only worrying bit is the fact that there is now oil leaking from around that area, is there anything inside that could of been damaged by the same bolt to cause a oil leak..?
Please help Sad

Unfortunately mate you are going to have to now remove your gearbox and investigate further and find out the cause of your oil leak, plus also you will be able now to retrieve your bell housing bolt.

Yes, you can remove the sump without touching the gearbox. Yes

What type of oil is leaking? Engine or gearbox oil?

Well it's a funny story... Car was up for MOT, failed on emissions so did a service put some cataclean in drove it round for few miles then had this massive rattle, found out didn't put one of the cover screws for the plastic top plate in properly come out and landed in the flywheel which hit my crank sensor and knocked it out.
I then notice oil dripping down from that kinda area (its kinda hard to tell where from) check the oil, did fill it up too much, we can only think of the plastic seal inside might be chewed up but it's not constantly leaking, we got the threaded end of the bolt out and the washer but the head is still in there, so don't know what to do....
Sorry for the essay haha wrote this on my phone too Smile

I doubt there would be enough room for the bolt to drop down behind the flywheel and damage the crank seal but its possible its cracked the bell housing on the gearbox. They are hardly known for being very strong. Ive changed two now with holes in them Sad

But surely that would be gearbox oil leaking out? its defiantly engine oil, it doesn't have that strong gearbox oil smell... :-s

Me and the old man think its just got in the system from me overfilling...

Also there is no obvious oil leaking out the bottom hole in the bell housing, which i think it would run to first and pour out...

so annoying haha
