Save that blaze!!
Tbh, buy a complete engine. It'll be cheaper. A referb head is £350 from mechanical repairs iirc. But you may have a knackered piston. Id be mo3 tempted with a complete lump and chuck it in whole. I also saw mechanical repairs had a rebuilt one for sale. Give him a call Ed. Smile

Doing the work yourselves? If not I'm always up for earning some cash. And do things PROPERLY. Can obtain parts very easily.

Also its rare they knacker the pistons I've seen many that just make a sligh notch in the top of each one. And judging by various people's testimony on said persons heads I've had recently I'd stay well clear.... No No

As with everything we have a new slater. Seems the older these cars get the more issues I seems to get!

All my heads are guaranteed not to tap and come fully refurbished, profit margin is not massive and they are on an exchange basis.

The problem with something like a cylinder head is you need to have good mechanical knowledge to put it back together as you can get what's called valve tangle and can cause the dreaded tapper issue when putting it back together if its not timed correctly or the cams are moved without the belt on.

I am more than happy to supply you a head or supply and fit. Can talk you through the fitting process also to minimise the issues you can cause, even other mechanics and garages have caused the Tap, once it's explained it's quite minimal you will make the mistake.

Many thanks.

This is all very true, better to fit the head without the cams in so they dont clash and you cant catch the edge of the block when putting it on.

Am removing a gti- head as we speak as it happens, however after a recent thread I put up asking about acquiring refurbed heads I've had several PM's from other members who have had engines / heads built or supplied by your company and have heard things about mish mash cam carriers from Other heads (which should never be swapped as their line bored and matched to the head) as well as various other mechanical shortcomings with other engines to do with belts, tensioners belt timing etc.

How much of this is true I cannot say but it's enough to put me off buying one to be honest.
Until recently (the last few months) I had only heard good things....

Well that's up to you but to keep popping my name up and bigging yourself up is not on.

If I was to supply a faulty part or something not right I would expect to be contacted and sort it out, I admit as a business it happens and I have sorted these out at my own expense, I don't need people like yourself making them feel better and slating me. From what I gather you are a mechanic and work for someone, if your garage was being slated your boss would do the upmost to sort this, hence this reply.

You doing side jobs etc is fine but remember I pay tax, vat and paye, hence you may be able to do jobs cheaper.

You don't have to buy from me or use me, that's your choice, personally I have moved on from the 306 scene as its getting slower day by day. Everything ages.

Thank you.

Carl

The 306 scene has died, just like the 205s, every man and his dog are selling bits off for sod all, which makes repairing them seem absurd for the cost. It used to be a nice earner stripping them 5years ago, not now though aye.

LOL

To be fair I have broke a few knackers or accident damaged ones but the most were repaired. I agree parts etc are worth nothing, when we break a car some parts are kept most are binned.

Or most are stood on my drive way to the annoyance of my missus, had to put a couple on the drive of my rented houseLOL

Yes i was a master tec for a mitsubishi main dealer now work at a family owned peugeot citoren garage. I do a fair amount of work on local members cars and offer advice where i can.
Thats all fair enough however I believe the point of an open Internet forum Is for people to share their experiences and knowledge with others is it not? as you say you've had a few unhappy customers from this forum Lately, some of whom haven't directly complained to yourself about the work before slating you on here but I can only go on what I've heard. Sorry to say I've heard other things from Kent members I know very well that have previously had similar experiences.
My boss doesn't generally have the problem of "slaters" as we do our best to look after the customers best interests and do the best job we can and as such we have an excellent customer base that continues to grow.

I'll be seeing inviroman next Sunday at a Kent meet so will find out if his friend wants to save his old blaze as it was an immaculate example. If he chooses to use one of your heads he is entirely free to do so.

Kent members just make me laugh as a bunch of inbred wiredos. A close clique that think they are something special.
