Mine has a noisey lifter, it sometimes taps but it always goes away after a couple of minutes.
Glad you chose to fix her up. Smile

If it works it works Chris. We'll have to go out so I can hear this tap.

dump the oil, give it fresh, then give it a good drive, if its just been sat idling it may well clear up after a proper drive.

It has just had a full service with new oil and filter plugs etc,. it's driving well and it will get it's legs stretched on Monday morning when it will get it's first proper drive i don't think it is a bent valve. just a noisy lifter... if it persists I'll get them to look at it again.
I'm happy to have it straight and true with some pulling grunt again! had a few issues finding the biting point on the new clutch LOL I'm going to give it a damned good clean on Monday. the list of other bits and bobs like steering rack boot and brake lines, wish bones etc have all made the car feel a lot tighter. and it's just been given a new MOT. I've spent a few bob on it!

Depends if they know enough about the head to be honest. Best bet when refitting is to not have the cams in until head is back on and torqued up as you can easily just touch a valve on the block when lining up the c**t of an exhaust manifold at the same time as getting the head seated on the 2 dowels.

A sticky lifter wouldn't be overly loud with the bonnet shut and would come and go like Aaron's does. My Diablo 6 used to be the same, some days quite tappy like a sewing machine others nice and silent. Bent valve is a constant TICK TICK TICK TICK that doesn't change depending on revs at all.

I've just done another new cylinder head and 16 valves for a customer at work and the engine was a tapper before, then got worse as the idiots that did the belt last got the timing nearly 2 teeth out. Eventually the belt jumped and caused this....

Is your bottom pully 100% ok? I'd be making sure the belt timing was 100% perfect after its all been apart. I've seen some horrors over the years from supposedly good garages....
