Hi chaps.

Looking for a word of advise. I have just picked up my gti, and found it has a random cone filter bolted to the side of the engine (original airbox removed). There is no cold air feed or anything like that.

I think it is probably losing me power as it is at the moment. I want to return it back to standard, and maybe add a high flow filter after that. Does this sound reasonable? Or is the current setup a good idea? As I say, I'm a bit dubious.

All input welcome.

when i bought my 6 it had a Pipercross enclosed filter on the end of the original feed pipe to the inlet,
I have since returned it to the standard filter system,
I felt it hung too low and was suseptible to water ingress, the car now has livened up in the bottom end and seems more responsive.

Fair enough. I was thinking of returning it to standard. The way it has been done at the moment just looks like it has been placed in a perfect heat sink...
