Hi Chaps

Quick one, I need to replace my rear brake discs for the MOT, and the front have some pitting and scoring too. While I'm at it, I thought I may as well do pads as well.

Are there any recommendations for the brakes? Keep it standard, EBC etc etc? This will be my daily, so I don't really want anything you have to get heat into. I'm happy to keep a standard setup, but if there is a worthwhile upgrade, I'll do that.

Any thoughts welcome.

keep it standard, stick to branded pads, no need for DS2500 stuff, I've got Citroen originals in mine and can't fault them, though they are more specific to the car than the general aftermarket pads which fit a lot of other cars.

What would be the best place to get OE brakes? Is a dealer the only option?

Looking on eBay, it is difficult to be sure what you're getting.

-1 for not using 'accepted'

And another -1 for having a bumper that doesn't match. I will leave a note from Stan on it next time I'm down Mildmay Road xxx

I've got Pagid discs and pads on mine, nothing fancy, just the std road stuff.. I think they are spot on for £50 delivered from https://www.carparts4less.co.uk (use code save5)

I thought long and hard before ending up replacing discs and pads on all 4 corners with OE stuff. Can't fault the braking. Was happy looking at aftermarket upgrade stuff but a lot of it is a bit pricey and couldn't see a clear benefit for the extra moolah for road use, though track use is different. Driving up north last weekend on the motorway had some of those inexplicable traffic braking events from 75mph down to 10mph in a few seconds then back up to speed again that you get when the roads are too crowded with stupid people. New OE discs and pads were well up to the task - I didn't foul my underwear at all.

For road use the OE brake and suspension setups on these cars are pretty good. Having owned cars back in the day like Golf VR6 and 1980s Audi Coupe quattros where you had to spend a north of a grand to get rid of undesirable wallowy handling and not exactly brilliant braking, the 306 GTI6/Rallye is well sorted for road use out of the box IMO.

How much does standard parts cost to do all 4 sides? Is it expensive to get it all from peugeot?

I have to agree with mik.
Im upgrading my brakes purely because brake porn ftw.
But genuinely the brakes are up to the task of road use even if you have boggo oe discs and pads
Id love to try ds2500 with brembo discs but i just want 4 pots atm
