I spoke to Autosprint who are based in Birmingham today about lightening and balancing, once the china's out of the garage i want to build a fresh engine, and i fancy a bit of L&B |

True. They have done alot with 8V XU's and a few Mi's. Was also told if i didn't want to go to the expense of forged rods then i could get my existing's shot peened to allow them to handle a little higher RPM |

can you? i would consider doing it if, a, it will improve strength and b, if i ever build something that requires more rpm to justify it |

Yeah, de-seam and shot peen the standard rods will toughen them up a bit, not that there particularly weak anyway. I did a set a few years back and they live in a race engine somewhere now...________________________________________ Oulton Park in a BTCC 306 vid 1Oulton Park in a BTCC 306 vid 2 Lap of the 'ring |

It was revving to just under 8k rpm with ARP bolts. Haven't seen it for a few years now mind... If you do all the de-seaming yourself and the shot peening cost £80 I think.________________________________________ Oulton Park in a BTCC 306 vid 1Oulton Park in a BTCC 306 vid 2 Lap of the 'ring |

your bang on mate, i was quoted £80 which i thought was good.a friend of mine has a pikey spec gti6 turbo that revs a good bit past 7k and has been faultless for over 4 years now, he has factory rods with ARP's. |
