I've read the other post on air con but still leaving me a bit clueless...

What pipe breaks? And where is it ? Aprox cos to fix?

Also I don't hear a click and the usuall revs that go up slightly?

Although the light indicates that it's on......

Wouldn't mind it working in this heat wave!!!!

Cheers guys

Its the pipes the radiator is low down. They rott at the brackets and cost a bomb to replace. Fill yours up. It may hold charge. Mine did. Smile

You can't hear it click because the compressor only kicks in when there is enough of a vacuum in th system. If there is no gas, it will ruin the compressor

The pipe that goes you can see come out of the compressor at the back if you peer down between the radiator and inlet manifold. Basically it gets salt on it during winter and it just gets in between the rubber part of the mounting bracket and the pipe and corrodes. It about 90 quid from pug. Factor in new o rings when you remove the bracket on the back of the compressor it holds down both pipes. Also 2 smaller ones where the pipe joins on to the condenser. If your dryer hasnt been changed in the last few years replace that too for about 20 quid from ECP and new o rings there. Pug will supply o rings just look at the exploded diagram for the ones you need. Then get it re gased.

The compressor will not engage due to low pressure, or any pressure at all if completely empty. Hence the no clicking.
