Apologies for the rubbish phone pic, but I'm going to get the wheels refurbed, and wondered would going for a graphite or darker colour be sinful, considering all of the car is original?

Darker colour is cheaper when getting a refurb as silver is awkward and needs a clear top coat Yes also if you have darker wheels you need (IMO) black mask headlights remove the fogs and lower the old girl all round Yes

Really? I've painted for years, and clear-coat every colour wheels I paint, regardless of how light/dark.

Ner dark car light wheels and vice versa, so it doesn't look like a black dark blob and stands out having good contrast, dark wheels with dark cars just look s**te imo.

^^ What he said, although I'd go one further and say 9 times out of 10 dark wheels look awful whatever colour the car is. There's already a big black circle around the rim, so the colour of the metal needs to contrast that. Another thing I find is that OEM wheels always seem to look worse if they're not the original colour.

Cheers everyone, from not owning the car long and quickly browsing the forum, I got the impression a lot of people mod their cars as opposed to restore them. Good to see some people saying keep them og as the car is all standard and a true unmolested example. I'm tempted to keep them silver as that means it is all stock and with black wheels I think it might looks odd without being lowered.

Thanks again guys.

i couldn't have put it better, especially on a black car

Anthracite would be ok in my book though, no darker.
