Hey guys,

I'm looking to purchase another set of wheels, and my first choice for obvious reasons is the pro race 1.2 in 15".

I'm seeing a lot of people going for 16", and I keep thinking why? as tyres such as r888 and the a048's are cheaper in 15"?

Is it purely so that they can fit bigger brakes under the wheels? As I swear ive read the 406 brembo's fit under the 15" 1.2's?

Also what size n offset would I need to get a direct fit on my 6? also is there any reason why I shouldn't go for a direct fit wheel, and have spacers etc to widen the track.

Cheers

yup, however the discs weigh a bladdy ton, some 2 kilos more than a gti6 disc, which negates the 2 kilo weight saving from the caliper.

unsprung weight is the same, however it is a lot of added rotating weight and expense.

if you get direct fit wheels you dont need spacers or spigots.

you'll need longer brake hoses.

brake hoses not an issue Smile

2kilo is a quite a lot

sounds like rotors is needed there,

do they squeal with this setup?

i'm pretty sure my 3 sets of wheels will clear the calipers of as they clear my AP 2 pot's ok, with plenty of room

Normally spigot rings will be included when you buy 1,2's, but if not, just go for these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SPIGOT-RINGS-FOR-73-1-65-1MM-FOR-PEUGEOT-306-/140960204471?

Xantia/C5 V6 discs are fine, but may squeel Wink

My thoughts would be to keep the standard brakes, put some good pads in there and buy some c5 steels.

If the car is stripped and running standard power that should be ample and fairly cheap + easy.

It will obviously look a bit s**t but your not doing a trackday to look good.

Only my opinion of course.

I used to run c5 wheels in my 205 track car, I took them off as the brakes weren't getting enought cooling, no issues now

So don't recommend for track

Few friends had the same issue, on the road they will be fine, but lap after lap properly in it, brakes won't cope,

Though did have another mate that was running them and was fine

I wouldn't use steelies on dry trackdays from past experience, i had standard power and ducting to help cool them.

If you are determined you can get decent sized brakes under 15" 1.2's. Yes

^ Laugh my ass off i wont be using them on track at all. Ive put my locking wheel nut in now Wink

I will also be looking at getting some ducting sorted to cool the brakes as i'll be keeping standard setup with decent pads.
