So now the Focus has gone and I am now rolling in a HDi, I can't help feeling the brakes are a bit sluggish even though the discs don't appear to be that old. The pedal doesn't seem to go very far and the rate of braking doesn't seem to be that great, pedal is quite stiff... Any ideas??

Brakes on my HDi were crap. Now has new rear discs and pads and GTI front brakes and calipers stops on a 6pence.

You say the pedal doesnt move much? Is it rock hard? If so check you have vacuum to the servo.

I think the lesser specced 306 brakes are just s**t tbh.

Remember getting in my gti6 when I test drove it from my meridian and the thing that majorly stood out was not only engine power but the brakes were very sharp in the 6 next to the meridian.

Its probably just that you are experiencing

It stops ok tbh I don't tend to tailgete people and I more often then not use engine braking to slow down well before junctions normally but yea the pedal seems quite hard. If I were to uprate to GTi6 brakes what I need to change to accommodate them?
