This car will be sold with these items in the back:
New timing belt kit.
New water pump.
New Rich W Crankshaft pulley (so the timing kit lines up correctly).
Alpine head unit.
set of front wheel arch liners and Arch to bumper under liner thingys.
A replacement Driver door which I sourced a year or two ago on here. (yes it's cherry :-) )
set of all four Rallye branded floor mats.
Reg': S276 FGC if you'd like to HPI it.
This card drives fast and tight but I don't have the time or inclination to nurse it past middle age and into old age now. So . . . . . I'd like it to go into the hands of a club member who'll appreciate its fantastic qualities and look after it.
- The paint is essentially good, though there is a rub on the rear offside quarter/bumper due a neighbour's misjudgement in parking. please refer to pictures for other body condition. Not as faded as most Cherries. A cut and polish will refresh it but I'll leave that to the next owner :-). chip on tailgate needs touching in.
- Interior is all good except for plastic seat lifter toggles and parcel shelf clip going crunchy with age and cracking. these can be had from a breaking 306 or Xsara very cheaply.
-driver side door skirt seal is fubberred. it's silly the way these disintegrate. they don't actually do much except catch your heel when you get in and out tbh.
- Steering wheel has a bit of rim wear, all done by previous vice gripping drivers wringing the wheel.
There is a strip of rust on the bottom edge of the driver door. This is why I got the replacement door some time ago but I never got to fitting it.
- I will bundle in the Alpine head unit with dash adaptor surround in the boot with the sale but no speakers are included.
- no boot liner carpet included. unfortunately a can of oil saw off this beyond cleaning so I got rid.
- upholstry: The drivers seat has wear which you can see in the pics, but it's not in the usual place in the side bolster. . the rest is in good shape.
- under the bonnet:
I have cambelt receiptsfrom before I owned the car so the belt I'm supplying will be its second change. (I fibbed in the cambelt change box as it doesn't date back that far).
I replaced the Aux belt and tension rollers in April this year. I was going to replace the included cambelt at the same time but this work was held up by the need for new crank pulley (high quality RichW Jobbie included in the sale)
I bought this car in 2009 on VERY LOW MILEAGE. The seller and I thought the car had stood idle for a long time as the mileage was really low.
This car isn't a tapper but does have one tappet which can be heard.
Car pulls strongly, has all that superb throttle response we know and love and idles perfectly.
It is time for an oil and coolant change.
The car uses a little oil and I've been advised that this is due to valve guide oil seals needing replacement.
I've always wanted a head strip and rebuild for this car but just never got to it or had the money at the right time.
compression is good, as is everything else. So I'm confident the oil is seeping through valve seals.
I fitted new thermostat and housing this year as the old one got tired and wouldn't let the engine reach running temp as fast as it should have.
gearbox is A1.
- Running gear:
Rear Brake Discs are due replacement due to not being worn correctly because of sticking caliper sliders.
Rear Brake calipers in need of servicing or replacement because of sticky sliders. Not an expensive fix.
Usual wear and tear to rubber suspension and anti roll bushes, wishbones. these aren't knackered but should be refreshed at some point to keep everything sweet. roller bearing 'P' bushes and urethane bushes might be a nice idea at this point.
Wheels and Tyres are all in good nick. couple of kerb marks but rims were refurbed in 2009 and tyres were new all round last year. - good Toyo T1Rs which suit the car perfectly.
car tracks perfectly.
PM me if you have any other questions or would like me to add anything here I might have left out.
This is a great car and needs an owner who'll keep it that way.
My partner and I thought long and hard about investing in it to own it indefinitely but the lure of a reliable VAG Derv car was too much so I have to let this great car go. It's my third 6/Rally and fourth 306 so I've learned the way these cars drive and what to fix and when, so hopefully I can answer any questions you have.
