Howeasy/hard is it to remove the frames and runners off the bottom of the front seats? Hoping to collect my new rallye in the next week or two and i have a set of Rover tomcat Recaros i want to put in there instead but would like to try and keep standard 306 seat mounts and runners to fix to the recaros if i can.

These have frames welded onto the bottom already what i will be cutting off from when a mate of mine had them in his mini.

i tried it when i fitted my rx8 seats and it makes them far far too high. I did mine by keeping the runners on the rx8 seats and just building a very simple subframe to weld the runners too. Much easier and they are at the height roughly the same as standard 306 seats if not slightly lower.

I purchased a Mint RX8 interior very very cheap so thought id give fitting them into the pug a go.

I do have spare runners but have looked through ya thread but not much on how precisely you did it so be interesting to see more in depth how you did it.

Ok pics. Ive taken these of the drivers seat but passengers is identical just mirrored

Ignore the unused hole. I made a mistake with measuring but have not got round to making covers for this bit yet. The two tabs are spaced with a M8 nut otherwise it sits wonky.

Tab welded to bottom of rx8 runner

Inner side. I have used the base runner of the original seat. you could just get a strip of 4mm steel, bolt it down then weld the tabs to that and remove the m8 spacer nuts on the other side for a lower seat (drivers has height adjustment anyway)

Front of inside runner.

The pug seatbelts dont fit in the rx8 seat belt plugs. Ive fitted the pug pre tensioners but you need some weird thread bolts (will find it soon) and need a spacer otherwise the pretensioner tube is bent against a dip in the metal on the rx8 seat.

All the metal ive used is 4mm steel and this is more than enough. The seat is actually sturdier than the original! The rx8 runners also have more travel than the pug ones so means you can have the seat closer than the pug max and further away.

hope this helps guys. Im going to drop mine down by welding the tabs to a metal bar on the inside and removing the spacer nut. Oh and all of this is bolted into the original positions with the original bolts. No modification needed to the body.

Did you get leather ones or cloth? I went of cloth so the colours matched the rear bench. I will say, they hold you much much better than standard seats but aren't as extreme as buckets. Ideal really!

No I got cloth ones as I didnt like the look of the leather it looked to thin and crap.

As you say they kinda go with the interior

I want your blue carpet!!

Didnt realise they were heated also.

I killed an RX8 in a straight drag the other day think it was an rex version or what ever there called. So I look at the seats niw.as a trophy lol

Oh did you get the heated ones? Mine are just the bog standard ones as I knew I would never wire the heating element in and I got them for a steal locally.
I think you can also wore the airbag into the airbag system but I'm trying to confirm this before I go ahead and do it lol.

I did see your thread regarding the airbags!

Could you not just of fitted RX8 seatbelts to work with the side latch save messing about?

Nah. The pretensioner is fitted into the inertia reel on the rx8 so they are much bigger.

That and I would of wanted to keep the pretensioners. I have also discovered last night that the airbags in the rx8 seats are compatible with the 306 airbag ecu so you don't loose them either.
