looking for 200 bhp, i spoke to a specialist based in the south of england and was told this is very acheiveable
Anyone care to comment?

I dont know much about N/A tuning but from what ive learned the 'BTCC' style inlet allows for more air flow. Apparantly the inlet was a cheat for the touring cars back in the day.

Correct, but there is a very specific way to do this and it's not cheap No

It's how it's opened up and then remove all the trumpets from inside then put back together. It's done so you would never know it had been.

It costs about £300 to have done I think Dunno

daveyboy did this not too long ago, 300 quid sounds quite fair given the ammount of labour involved but i do happen to know an engineer that is keen to learn about this malarky

I think it's cut open along the seam then excess metal removed from within. It's then carefully put back together so as not to be obvious it's been done

Then you will want a different throttle body and air box Wink Also if your planning on pocketed pistons go for PT84's may aswell go all out Wink

eddy - 84's wont work with original valve gear, not for long anyway
bbb, there are a few cheats about...

anyway, is it really worth fitting a touring style inlet? dont mind doing it as long as i can actually feel the gains

Ill say for a fact it doesn't work as a stand alone modification. It needs the modified or replacement pistons (preferably high comp) and decent cams to match.

if i do this i will be pocketing my standard cast pistons to allow optimal timing of 81s, management wise i'm pretty much sorted. i have seen a coupe of people on here are a couple of ponies away from 200 brake so would like to think that with good ecu (and yes, proper mapping) i can crack my goal

Don't bother with PT 81s fit the 82s and get some Wossners under there. You'll need the extra compression to make high lift/long overlap cams work anyway, so do yourself a favour and don't skimp on the job.

this summer's project is no longer car, its an engine
tbf, ive not looked into 82's, what are approx expected gains with afore mentioned mod's?..i hate that word
