I'm after a phase one vts rack and have been thinking....
Due to me running the wider track on the Dimma can I get away with using the vts ram apposed to the 6 one that restricts the amount of travel to avoid hitting the box?

maybe.

the gearbox is 55mm longer than 5 speed unit, however I'm unsure how far away from 5 speed box the tyre is, I do know that the narrower 205 (same rack and hubs) will rub the end of the box with a 195 tyre as standard

I guess I will have to wait and see Sad just hoping I can use a phase 2 rack and pipe work with out swapping the ram or anything else over.

I would hazzard a guess that it would be fine, not hard to make up a lock stop.

To be honest I haven't even had a look at a rack yet so wouldn't know what to do to limit the travel, could it be as simple as applying a clamp around the ram piston? Or would it have to be a mechanical stop welded to the subframe to stop the ram extending to its fullest range?

I changed my ram for a std one (no second hand ones about and it was leaking everywhere) and even with new tyres on it only just rubbed the edge of the box so I would guess you'd be fine with wider track as the pivot point is further out unless you have monster truck tyres on

Is the s16 rack the same amount of turn from lock to lock as the vts rack?

Well either way, my wheels are no where near my gearbox on full lock.
