would this be an earthing problem or something more serious?
i've read about dodgy earths making the speedo drop out but not read about the other meters dropping too.

The car's off the road until I fix this so a little guidance shouold help me move things on.
does the gearbox earth strap effect this?

thanks in advance everyone.

Hmm, friend of mine had a 306 1.9 DT back in 2005. It had a similar fault and my cure for it was to remove the fusebox from the dash, open it up and go through all the connections between the circuit boards with a soldering iron.

edit: I don't mean go through EVERY connection on the boards. Just the ones that connect the sandwiched circuit boards to each other Thumbs up

Have you checked all the fuses in the passenger compartment?
