Bit of a rush job here guys, my s**tter of a 206 is fighting me all the way....

Come to change the top engine mount (drivers inner wing), same layout as the 306, same mount in fact!

Anyway, it was tight as they normally are, so tap tap with a hammer and chisel anti-clockwise to undo, and f**k, the captive nut inside the chassis leg has come away.. so now im left with a mount that's loose but no way of getting to the captive nut to undo it.

Any ideas, apart from setting fire to the bas**rd heap?Angry

Can you get a spanner on the underside section like you can on a 6 if your carfull? Or short sharp whacks to scare it undone.

Nope, no access at all to the underneath. Its actually undone probably 3 turns, as in theres about 5mm between the mount and the bodywork, the captive nut is stuck on the thread and just turning freely

Can you not cut the threaded bit underneath with a small hacksaw blade then try to get the rest out with a big f@@k off hammer and chisel

Theres f**k all room in there Rich...Sad

Tintins coming round in the morning, I can see grinders, hammers and welding gear being used on it. Think im going to have to cut the mount up with the grinder to get to the base of it then work out how to weld a new captive nut in.

Get some wedges underneath it to take up the slop and undo it inch by inch pushing the wedge in further each time? Can yo post pictures of the mount and its local areas?

Yes yes I know its a bit retarded but I try not to look at 206's.. Wink

As for captivating the nut, drill some 6mm holes, offer the nut up on the underside and plug weld it. Or if I were you, I would do a chassis repair like on the 6s. If you have access to a welder its pretty easy. Heres one I did on a rallye. The nut is fully welded to the underside of tue new plate befor its welded in so you know it wont come off.

sorted this problem out just now. Had to remove the grille, headlight to get to a small access area under the mount, managed to get a 19mm spanner on the square captive nut and undo the mount.

Refitted it with a body washer and a nyloc nut underneath. Jobs a good un.

I hate pugs! Only the wheel bearing and PAS pump to change now. Plus a load of rust proofing over the winter me thinks.

Brilliant. So much like a 306 you can get under it. Good good. Smile
