Had anyone else had problems with water pouring inside the car from underneath the door panel. It seems to come over the door seal but I'm not sure. It isn't much but it bugs me off. It has been doing this for a few years, never had the interest to look into it before. Is the door seal worn or does it come beneath the door card. I've removed the insulations (whatever they're called) under the door card several times but taped/glued 'em back on securely every time.

The door seals look quite worn though as they have been on there for 160k miles and 19 years.. LOL They're not broken or missing rubber, just "dented" in the middle and not so puffed up as they probably should as new.. Dunno I remember removing the connecting piece "hose" between the seal where it goes together. Don't ask why, because it was like 10 years ago. Maybe it had something to do with the seal filling up with water back then.. Hasn't been doing it since tho'

Mine Used To Do This.it Filled The Seal Then Ran Into The Car.

Will it drip if I cut the speaker hole, I guess not..?

You might be on to something, it started dripping after I added some sound deadening for a few kilos and made the car much quieter.. And foolishly removed it then even though I never really had to. After I changed my electric windows motors to new ones it has been pouring even more water inside..

Definitely sounds like a problem with the membrane behind the door card that keeps the water out of the car.

The cause could be a combination of more than one thing - e.g. the plastic membrane behind the door card is not keeping the water out, the soundproofing might be stopping the water getting out the bottom of the door (water is supposed to run through the door and out the drain holes in the bottom), or the door seals could be past their best as rubber shrinks a bit over time.

Try taking the door card off and then pour pater down the outside of the door so you can see it happening?

Check the plastic membrane's fit around the door speakers and whether the soundproofing has changed the water path, and finally I would spray silicone or similar onto all the rubber seals once per day for a week and it might make the seals perform a bit better.

I really hate getting silicone onto the paintwork. B*tch to remove. Maybe I'll just buy new seals.. But first I'll try those membranes.

It will be the membrane, every car will leak without them.

if you do not have the plastic sheet that fits over the speaker hole and the foam seal the water drips onto the top of the speaker area on the door card, then onto the door and it runs onto the rubber door seal instead of into the bottom of the doorThumbs up

I have the membrane installed, it's just pretty much fubar Big grin Taped from pieces and glued in place, I guess it's my problem.. It has been removed and installed back many times and every time it has taken some damage and has been ripped somewhere.

So if I push out the piece that is meant to come off under the speaker (when I buy the new membranes), it will leak from there? Speakers will sound sh*tty if they can't breathe inside the door Sad
